Part-Time Caregiving Roles Offer New Moms an Income and Flexible Hours

Woman reading to senior

You’re a new mom who’d like to bring some money in again, but you aren’t ready to think about the commitment of full-time work, and you know the typical part-time job is too restrictive.

Have you considered part-time caregiving?

Part-time caregiver jobs are some of the fastest growing opportunities right now.

There are numerous opportunities for you to find a job that fits your schedule and lifestyle.

The positions can be a fun and flexible option for moms who want to spend most of their time at home with their children and still earn an income.

Work as few or as many hours as you want

Being a part-time caregiver enables you to work as few or as many hours as you’d like so you can find a balance between staying home with your child(ren) and working to earn some money.

Part-time caregiving can benefit you, your family, the person you care for, and their family!

It can be fulfilling to earn an income on your terms while helping provide a better quality of life for someone who needs personal assistance.

Your clients will be local to you, generally within a 15-minute drive of your home, so there won’t be a long commute to deal with.

Most everyday part-time jobs have set schedules you need to comply with, and it can be difficult to find a position with the flexibility you want.

Being an in-home caregiver enables you to work as many hours as you want or be as few as 10 hours per week!

You can work days, nights, weekdays, or weekends. The choice is yours.

Types of tasks for in-home caregivers

Most in-home caregiving clients are older adults who are mostly independent but struggle with some everyday tasks.

When you’re in in-home caregiver, you will help with tasks such as house cleaning and decluttering; washing, drying, and/or folding laundry; driving the person to doctors’ appointments; or helping prepare meals, to name a few.

You can earn as you learn

You do not have to have a medical background to become a part-time in-home caregiver. There are caregiver opportunities for those with and without medical experience!

You’ll receive training in basic first aid, CPR, and food safety, at a minimum, before visiting your first client, and those are all skills that can come in handy at home, too.

If you are thinking about a future career in nursing, for example, we can help you get some specific training that will help you along that path. Part-time caregiving is a great second job for licensed nursing assistants (LNA), so this part-time job can be a stepping stone to a healthcare career if you want.
